PLANNING & REVIEW WORKSHOP

Inauguration ceremony chaired by Senior Minister Malik M. Nawaz GoAJK.

A three days Planning & Review Workshop was conducted from 30th August to 01 September, 2008 at Dreamland Motel Islamabad. The purpose of the workshop was to review the progress of financial year 2007-08 in the light of targets and further plan the activities for next financial year (2008-09) keeping in view of MTR Mission recommendations.

The Program Director Mr. Mushtaq Hussain Awan welcomed the participants and said that we are a team and committed to bring the project out of risk. Mr. Malik M. Nawaz Senior Minister was the chief guest and the Program Director also welcomed the chief guest and he said in his opening address that govt. AJK has straps political commitment in development first time in the history of AJK as 96% expenditure in development sector was made by present govt. He said that CDP is a unique project where the work is done with participatory approach. He advised the program management to be flexible and don’t indulge yourself in red tap mechanism. He also advised to CDP staff for work hard to achieving targets in this financial year.

The Senior Minister of AJK Govt. assured the full cooperation of Govt. with CDP. Dr. M. H. Bhatti also addressed the opening session.

A Session on Team Building By Romi Saeed Hayat Director Institute Rural Management NRSP Islamabad.

During the workshop Director IRM Mr. Romi Hayat was taken a session on motivation. He said that motivation is the process of stimulation to take action due to intrinsic or extrinsic incentive. He also explained McGregor’s Theory “X” and “Y”.

Presentation by District Program Officers

During three days all district program officers gave presentation of their achievements up to June 2008, planning in 2008-09, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges. The Program Director and Dr. M. Hussain Bhatti discussed the challenges and weaknesses at the spot coming out by these presentation especially in respect of following district offices:-

2nd Day, 31st August, 2008

Review of the Day 1st

Proceeding of day 1st was reviewed by the Program Director Mushtaq Hussain Awan. He emphasized on motivation and said that is a will to do assignment as per role & responsibilities. He said that in motivation regarding award is prerequisite and act as a stimulus for growth and performance. For staff motivation, project is introducing benefits and awards for the professionals at all levels.

He also took notice of the staff that was not following the secluded design for workshop timing. However, the process of presentations continued and following DPOs completed their presentation.

Computer Programmer Mr. Umar Nazir gave the comprehensive presentation on Management Information System (MIS) and web site of the program. He explained methodology of MIS, MPs and working procedure of MIS. M&E Specialist and Computer Programmer replied the queries made by the participants.

3rd Day, 1st September, 2008

Review of the 2nd Day

A session by Robeela Bangash Gender Specialist on Gender Issues was delivered. She involved the participants in an activity of developing image of male & female on the chart. She also put the light on the role of male & female in our society. She further said that sex is a natural and biological difference but gender is a society change. She also explained why gender development is necessary for sustainable development.

Closing Ceremony chaired by Ch. Tariq Farooq Advisor to Prime Minister

In the closing ceremony of workshop Mr. Tariq Farooq Advisor to Prime Minister for development was the chief guest. Welcome words by Mushtaq Hussian Awan and key notes by Dr. M. Hussain Bhatti given

Mushtaq Ahmed Raja M&E Specialist given the presentation to chief guest about overall progress of program and replied the queries made by honorable chief guest. The chief guest Mr. Tariq Farooq said in his address that development is a priority of present govt. There are a lot of challenges in development sector but we can achieve our targets with spirit and commitment. He said that CDP really performed a good job as compared to other development projects. He expressed his hopes from CDP. The Chief Guest said that CDP can overcome the challenges by strengthening the PMU. He suggested that for improving the coordination between CDP and GLDs a meeting of concerned minister of GLDs could be conducted. He further said that CDP played a vital role in poverty reduction. He expressed his satisfaction on the performance of CDP. At the end he distributed the prizes among following categories on best performance during workshop. It was dicided on the written observation by the participants.
